ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Arcadia is written by Tom Stoppard. Tom Stoppard is a British playwright who was born in Czechoslovakia on July 3, 1937. He has written for film, radio, television and the stage. He started off writing short stage plays from 1953 to 1954 and by 1960 he wrote his first complete stage play called, A Walk on the Water which then got renamed later on to be, Enter a Free Man (1968). His first play was optioned, staged in Hamburg then broadcast on British Independent Television in 1963. Later on, he produced many works for radio, theatre and television. As time went on, his career grew to become more and more successful.
ABOUT THE PLAY
Arcadia published in 1993, explores the interaction between modern academics and the past residents of a Derbyshire country house from the early 19th century. The play deals with the nature of truth and time. Focusing on the mysteries that engage the minds and hearts of characters whose passions and lives align across different centuries. As the play goes back and forth between the two times, many thought-provoking questions are brought up and big abstract concepts discussed.
