The First Big Day is a warm and playful puppet show coming to Halo Espresso Bar in Mississauga. With tickets just $10, it’s a lovely little outing for families and children.
The story follows the excitement, nerves, and small surprises that come with a child’s very first day of school. Through puppets and storytelling, we invite you to share in this special moment and enjoy a story about growing, trying something new, and taking that first big step.
Starting School Is a Big First Step
Starting school for the first time is a major transition for a child. A new classroom, unfamiliar faces, new routines, and being away from parents can bring a mix of excitement and nervousness. Experts note that these “first-day jitters” are common, and helping children know what to expect can make the experience feel more manageable.
That’s what makes The First Big Day so relatable. Through puppetry and storytelling, the show explores those very first feelings of stepping into something new, reminding children that it’s okay to feel nervous, excited, or even a little unsure when facing a big first.

When Can I See the Show?
We’re bringing The First Big Day to Halo Espresso Bar in Mississauga for a series of intimate performances designed to bring live puppetry right into the community.
The adventure begins on December 20, 2026, when audiences will get their first chance to meet the characters, discover the story, and experience this brand-new puppet show for the very first time.
But the first big day doesn’t end there!
Following the premiere, The First Big Day will return for additional performances throughout September, giving children, families, and community members multiple opportunities to join us. Each performance offers a chance to step into the story, share a little laughter, and experience the magic of live puppetry in the welcoming atmosphere of Halo Espresso Bar.
