Vedant is a graduate of the University of Toronto in Rotman School of Management. He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Marking and Marketing Management. Vedant Sharma is a member of Crane Creations Theatre Company’s 2021 Summer Ensemble. Vedant is currently working as a Co-ordinator for the NHL (National Hockey League).

Nicole Eun-Ju Bell

Nicole Eun-Ju Bell is a Toronto based mixed-race artist. Nicole is a multi-disciplinary artist with a passion for performance and technology. She is, among other things, a projection designer, actor, writer, and stage manager. Nicole is a graduate of the Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance at the University of Toronto. Nicole is a member of Crane Creations Theatre Company 2021 Summer Ensemble.

James Hyett

James Hyett is a multilingual British Canadian editor, actor and linguist. James has a BA (Hons) in Theatre and Linguistics from the University of Toronto, and an MA in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). James Hyatt is also a producer, improviser, linguist, and dialect coach. James is from Kingston, Ontario. He currently lives in Toronto. James is a member of Crane Creation Theatre Company’s 2021 Summer Ensemble. James is an editor of seven plays which have been translated from Slovene to English. James is very concerned with the thoughtful use of tech in theatre, collaborative storytelling, and Zip-Zap-Zop.

Renee Wong

Renée Wong (she/they) is an actor, director, playwright, and arts administrator based in Toronto, Ontario. Renee is a member of the 2020 Crane Creations Theatre Company’s Summer Ensemble as an Artistic Producer. Renee is also a recent graduate of Humber College Theatre Performance Program. Some of the companies Renee has worked with are Paprika Festival, Toronto Fringe, SummerWorks Festival and TO Live. Most recently Renee is working at Crows Theatre and Factory Theatre. Renee is dedicated to exploring marginalized stories, inspired by her personal experience being raised Hong Kong as well as Toronto.

The Characters

Presiding Judge

A judge who also addresses the audience as an omnipresent narrator on the case.

Defendant

A fighter pilot who is a Major in the army with an interest in Law/Morality. He is studious and focused in his endeavours, with great pride and strong beliefs in his job.

Biegler

The Defence Counsel. A focused lawyer who is representing the defendant. With a distant towards court practices and a sarcastic sense of humour.

Nelson

A State Prosecutor. A sharp lawyer who representing the plaintiff. She is observant and dedicated to the facts.

Christian Lauterbach

The Witness. A Lieutenant Colonel who was the Duty Controller that day. He is goal oriented, technical and thinks favourably of the defendant.

Franziska Meiser

The Plaintiff. A mourning wife, single mother and nurse whose husband died aboard the flight.

Security Guard

A Guard that serves the court and keeps a close watch of the defendant, Lars Koch.

Ferdinand von Schirach

Ferdinand von Schirach is a German lawyer and writer. He was born in 1964 in Munich, Germany. Von Schirach became an attorney in 1994, specializing in criminal law. He gained public attention in 2008 due to his involvement prosecuting the BND (German Federal Intelligence Service) during the”Liechtenstein Tax Affair”. He published his first short stories at the age of forty-five, and soon became one of Germany’s most successful authors. His books have been translated into over 35 languages, and have sold millions of copies worldwide. Ferdinand von Schirach remains active in criminal law. His stories are often inspired by his experience and expertise as an attorney.

What you can expect to learn

Passionate and committed to reflect the population of Canada as much as possible we want to see its reflection in arts jobs. We don’t type cast. Submitting your headshot is not mandatory, we do not want to judge you by your looks. We want to solely look at your education and experience.

Actors are invited to sit in on auditions. It’s the best way to learn how to improve by seeing the audition process from the other side. If you would like to sit on our audition panel, pease apply here.
