ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Lola Arias is an Argentine writer, actress and director. She studied literature at the University of Buenos Aires and dramaturgy at the School of Dramatic Art, the Royal Court Theater and the Casa de America. She founded the theater company known as The Postnuclear Company. Many of her shows have unconventional actors such as in “striptease” the protagonist is a baby. She has made many productions such as; “a escuálida familia”, “Poses para dormir”, “Trilogy Striptease, Sueño con revólver, and El amor es un francotirador” and “Estudios de la memoria amorosa”.
ABOUT THE PLAY
Minefield is a reflection of British and Argentine veterans experiences during the Falklands/Malvinas war. Taking real-life accounts from these soldiers, the play dramatizes the realities of war through the accounts of several characters including, Lou who was taken prisoner by Argentina and is now a special needs teacher, and Ruben who was in the sinking of the ship named the ARA General Belgrano and is now a member of a Beatles tribute band. Through the accounts of these veterans, Minefield reflects on effects of war on every day people and how memories of war change over time.

Play Date is a monthly play reading activity, held on the third Thursday of each month. We read one play from around the world together. The play reading is followed by a group discussion about the play. Anyone is welcome to join and practice reading out loud, regardless of experience or level of English comprehension.
