Jean Tay is an award-winning Singaporean playwright celebrated for her incisive and imaginative storytelling. Known for works such as Boom and Everything but the Brain, Tay often tackles themes of identity, societal change, and environmental issues. Her writing combines wit and emotional depth, offering sharp observations on contemporary life in Singapore. A recipient of the NAC Young Artist Award, Tay is also a co-founder of Saga Seed Theatre, dedicated to nurturing new talent and voices in the local arts scene. Her work continues to inspire and resonate globally.

Play Date is a monthly play reading activity, held on the third Thursday of each month. We read one play from around the world together. The play reading is followed by a group discussion about the play. Anyone is welcome to join and practice reading out loud, regardless of experience or level of English comprehension. With Play Date, learning English becomes fun. This is a place where you can practice speaking out loud, expand your vocabulary and meet new people.
