ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Annie Baker is an American playwright and teacher who won a 2014 Pulitzer prize for her play “The Flick.” She graduated from the department of dramatic writing at the New York University Department of the Arts. Baker also teaches playwriting at New York University, Barnard College, and in the MFA program at Stony Brook Southampton.
ABOUT THE PLAY
Three ushers working in a rundown cinema in small-town Massachusetts manage a traditional projector that still uses film, clean the floors, pop popcorn, and perform various other mundane tasks to keep the theater running. To pass the time, they engage in small talk about their everyday lives. One day, the beloved old projector is replaced with a new digital one. “The Flick” premiered at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre and won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
