The Role
Front of House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing front of house operations during events at the Maja Prentice Theatre. Responsibilities include overseeing the Box Office, Concessions, Lobby, and overall house management while ensuring that the theatre remains clean and secure. As the primary point of contact for the public, the Front of House Supervisor reports directly to the Front of House Manager. Ideal candidates will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent customer service and leadership skills, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and commitment.

Compensation: $5,040

What Is Summer Ensemble?
Summer Ensemble is a one of a kind work experience for artists pursuing a career in the Canadian theatre industry. Summer Ensemble hires artists between the ages of 18 to 30 to work full time over the course of several weeks. Along the way, learn valuable skills and gain experience in this fast-paced, intense program.
Job Description
Tasks and Responsibilities
Front of House Supervisor hired through Summer Jobs Program will be required to engage in the following tasks and responsibilities:

Theatre Operations
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment in the theatre.
- Ensure all front of house volunteers are well-informed about their roles and responsibilities.
- Provide an outstanding customer experience for all audience members.
Volunteer Supervision
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager and Coordinator to manage front of house volunteers.
- Track volunteer hours and attendance.
- Train and supervise volunteers in their respective roles (concessions attendant, box office attendant, usher, greeter).
Key Holding
- Responsible for holding keys to the Front of House area and cash box.
Inventory Management
- Monitor, restock, and organize inventory.
- Minimize waste and prevent inventory loss.
Event Promotion
- Prepare and display a monthly event schedule on the notice board outside the theatre.
- Create event listings on the CCTC website and Eventbrite.
VIP Client Services
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Artistic/Managing Director to prepare VIP packages.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of VIP guests.
- Set up and manage the VIP stand/counter at events.
- Welcome VIP guests with professionalism and courtesy, handing over packages and facilitating interactions.
- Capture photos of VIP guests with senior staff.
This is a learning on the job role and will also entail the following requirements: watch videos of productions, acting exercises and other professional materials as required;
- with the help of a mentor learn how to evaluate professional theatre’s elements;participate in learning activities about professional companies (employers), funding bodies and grants;
- Complete delegated tasks such as research or reports or articles in a timely matter;
- discuss and debate elements of professional productions and acting techniques;learn how to write and edit a blogpost under supervision and mentorship;
- writing blog posts as required.
Reports to
Front of House Manager
Requirements:
- Be available to work online and in person at our theatre (3650 Dixie Rd, Mississauga, ON L4Y 3V9) and studio (2359 Royal Windsor Drive Unit 210, Mississauga, ON L5J 4S9).
- Be available for all dates and hours stated in contract.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, have a PR, or refugee status.
- Be between 18 – 30 years of age.
Education and Experience:
Experience and Education in Theatre is preferred, but not required.
Languages:
English. Knowledge of any other language is a plus.
Software experience:
Google Drive, Excel, Word, WordPress, Eventbrite, Canva or Adobe suite.
