The Role
A treasurer is responsible for overseeing financials of an organization. They review and communicate financial conditions to the board in order to ensure the board is maintaining it’s fiscal responsibilities. The treasurer oversees financial statements, annual budgets, and all other major financial documents.

Board of Directors, Members of the Corporation
Responsibilities
- Oversees financial affairs of the organization
- Reviews financial statements prepared by the General Manager
- Works with external auditor and senior staff on providing all relevant information for audited financial statements
- Leads finance or audit committee if needed
- Attends the Board Meetings
- Stays on top of legislative and accounting best practice regarding not for profit financials
- Provides information on financial matters at Board meetings
- Reads meeting minutes from previous Board meeting
- Presents past fiscal year’s financial report at the AGM (annual general meeting)
- Signs financial statements
Duties
Ensures financial matters of the corporation are kept according to the law and the by-laws of the
corporation.
